Listen Dear was personally recommended by Harold Kirk who sources all of Willie’s horses from France (and spotted recent Royal Ascot winner Pique Sous)
Listen Dear has had just one run in a 3 mile point to point at Kiltullagh in May where she finished a length second to Amy’s Choice with a 20 length gap back to the third horse. She travelled a bit freely but jumped really well in front, The favourite Amy’s Choice was under pressure from 2 out while Listen Dear was still hands and heels and flew the last to go 3 lengths clear rounding the home turn (the commentator called her the winner), but probably got a bit tired and idled and was nabbed on the line by the favourite who was under maximum pressure. This was her first ever run and given the educational ride she got she should really thrive for it.
Her trainer at the time was badly out of form this season, and we think that the horse was probably only 60% fit. Obviously Willie’s magic should see her improve significantly. Donald McCain recently paid £45,000 for the winner, but we are very confident we have the better horse.
Listen Dear is beautifully bred to be a top class prospect being out of Robin Des Champs whose offspring are topping all the sales at the moment and fetching prices in excess of 200,000 euro. The dam line has produced Grade One juvenile winners so she could be pretty precocious too. Another bonus is that she qualifies for the new mares race series which pays an additional 5K euro to the winner’s prize money in qualifying races.
Harrold Kirk who buys all Willie Mullins horses…. “Steve you have just got to have her, I know she is a bit over your budget but you’ve got to push the boat out with this one”. Unusually Harrold took a share himself he likes her so much… and you can’t get a better vote of confidence than that!
Listen Dear originally sold out in just 5 days… but due to a late withdrawal 20% is available again. We now have 4 x 5% shares with an upfront price of £2,500 and a monthly fee of £120.00 which covers all training costs.
